Shelly Klees has been an immigration paralegal since 2004. Her area of expertise rests in immigrant visas for individuals of extraordinary abilities and outstanding professors/researchers, National Interest Waivers, Exceptional Ability petitions, and non-immigrant O-1 petitions. Prior to joining Sostrin Immigration Lawyers, LLP, she worked at several prestigious immigration law firms as a senior paralegal.
Ms. Klees brings a unique perspective to her work, having intensely studied American history in graduate school with a specialization in immigration. As part of her research, she conducted oral histories with members of Minneapolis’ Latvian community to better understand how its members have been able to maintain their cultural identity in America since World War II. Ms. Klees has also worked with immigrant families at the NW Suburban Integration School District in Minnesota, where she provided services to support parents and primary caregivers of immigrant children in the public school system.
Ms. Klees holds a Master’s degree in American History from the University of Northern Colorado and a Bachelor’s degree in History from Metropolitan State University.
