Newsflash – USCIS Completes FY 2017 H-1B Cap Data Entry
On Monday, May 2, 2016, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it has completed data entry for all fiscal year 2017 H-1B cap-subject petitions selected during its computer-generated random “lottery” process, which concluded on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.
USCIS is still delivering Receipt Notices for selected cases to petitioners and attorneys of record, and will now begin returning all submitted petitions that were not selected as well. Due to the high volume of filings, totaling roughly 236,000, the timeframe for returning the rejected petitions is uncertain. USCIS will issue an announcement once all petitions have been returned.
USCIS is additionally re-distributing some H-1B cap petitions from the Vermont Service Center to the California Service Center in order to balance caseloads and maximize efficiency. Transferred cases will be notified by mail; from there all future correspondence should be addressed to the service center currently processing your petition.
